A fantastic day! Our driver, “Shiny” was a wonderful host. He was super friendly and showed us all the cool spots around Dambulla and Sigiriya as well as an amazing wildlife park where we took a Jeep through the park to see wild elephants. We highly recommend this tour and be sure to ask about visiting the park as well when you book so that you will have enough time to do everything.
Its quite a climb to the top of the rock fortress, so not for the faint hearted. Some awkward climbs to navigate on the way up too. From the entrance driveway below the rock looks very over powering and the thought of climbing it was a bit daunting. But if you take it in gentle stages its fine. Unfortunately on the day we went it rained, and by the time we got to the top of the rock there was a lot of mist so the view was not brilliant. None the less it was still a good site to see - and another box ticked.
